Vintage 2015 weather trend

Harsh winter with a lot of rainfalls, the accumulation of water allowed a good vegetative development and a great blossoming. Heavy rains in the middle of August invigorated the vineyard, creating a good water source and vitality for the vineyard. Alternating moments of little rainfalls and warm weeks at the beginning of September guaranteed dry and ripened grapes. A great harvest fable to give wines with a good aging potential and complexity.

2017 vintage will be remembered for a dry and extremely scorching summer all around the peninsula. But, once again Etna “ A’Muntagna” goes off the grid : even in these extreme conditions the volcano protected the vineyards making the weather mild. Summer hand not the excessive conditions that has been registered all around the island. Our centenary vineyards indeed didn’t suffered the weather conditions. The red grapes reached a great phenolic maturation, with a good set of anthocyanins and a unusual richness and readiness of already round tannins. We expected wines with great aging potential and strong alcoholic percentage with silky and huge tannins. Erse Rosato 2017 it’s balanced and very aromatic, with structure and great body, floral and round with a long, complex and persistent end.

Vintage 2018 weather trend

This vintage is characterized by a very mild winter, with temperatures that almost never fell below zero with very few rains until April. In May, on the other hand, an Atlantic perturbation brought abundant precipitations that went until late June, despite the temperatures above 30 ° C. At the beginning of July the temperatures have risen slightly, causing a slight advance from a phenological point of view.The beginning of August brought with it several perturbations causing a further delay in our Nerelli ripening. September and October were characterized by humid and rainy climate in Rovittello, giving nevertheless the difficult vintage a unique Rosè, made with a long maceration, rich in acidity and vertical, with peppery, ripe red fruit and honey aromas.

Vintage 2019 weather trend

The 2019 vintage was characterized by a very mild and dry winter. In April and May the temperatures were constant, never going above 25 ° C and ensuring excellent vegetative development. In August the temperatures underwent a normal rise which led to an excellent maturation and concentration in the Nerelli. The months of September and October were characterized by dry and mild climatic trends, ensuring an excellent quality of grapes in the cellar. Erse Rosato 2019 opens with fresh hints of pomegranate and cherry, lime zest and white pepper, develops with an excellent acid span that balances on a great freshness and persistence on the finish.
